 HEP Libraries Webzine
Issue 12 / March 2006

Editorial issue 12

Welcome all to issue 12 of the HEP Libraries Webzine which you'll see has a slight CERN focus this time with two articles from the CERN staff.

But first we've brought to you a great article from Tamar Sadeh who's well qualified to discuss the relative merits of the Google Scholar search tool and its place in the developing metasearch market. Google have certainly been the name on everyone's lips in recent months and I'm sure we're all keeping an eye on their news.

From CERN, Joanne Yeomans presents some statistics to detail the open access content of the CERN institutional repository in 2006, and Anne Gentil-Beccot has written a diary of the open access activities that have been keeping some of the Webzine's editorial staff busy during the previous year.

Interesting projects concerning open access are quietly evolving in the particle physics research community and we hope to bring you more details of these developments in future issues. For sure, Open Access remains an exciting and vibrant movement within HEP and HEP Libraries and we welcome more articles on open access related topics.

And last, but by no means least, we bring you an article from India, a country which has its own exemplary open access history. This time, however, the article's not about how libraries are creating open access, but how a library is using open access resources: P.Rajendiran at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, describes the free access grey literature resources that the Centre's Library recommends to its researchers.

Once again, thankyou all for reading, supporting, or contributing to our open access Webzine!
