  • CLOCKSS programm- Controlled Lots Of Copies Keep Stuff Safe has been been launched in January 2006.
    CLOCKSS is a collaborative initiative by a group of organizations drawn from publishers, libraries and learned societies. This two-year project will test the LOCKSS technology and social model to support a 'large dark archive' that is both fail-safe and has an acceptable process for providing continuing access for orphaned materials.

  • In December 2005, a Colloquium on Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics was held at CERN involving representatives of all actors in the publication chain in particle physics. The aim of the colloquium was to promote a change in the publishing model.
    As a result a task-force, with the mandate to study and develop viable publishing models, will present its results around the end of March 2006.

  • Journal of Instrumentation (JINST) is a new peer-reviewed journal created in 2006 by the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) and the Institute of Physics (IOP). It will publish articles, theses and technical reports. it is freely available to read for at least 2006.
